Sixth Form News
There were some very pleasing results in 2017 with over a third of students achieving A* - B grades and 70% of our students achieving grades A*-C. Our 4 highest achieving students gained an impressive 4 A*, 9 As and 1 B grade collectively. They have now gone on to study at the following Russell Group universities: The University of Lincoln, Nottingham, Manchester and York.
Overall, the percentage of students who took up places at Russell Group universities (the leading UK universities in terms of research and teaching) was 13%. With the majority of students gaining a place at their university of choice and a pleasing 100% placed in either their first or second choices. This is a reflection of the increasing ambition of our students, as well as the time spent making sure their applications were as strong as possible. This year appears to be more promising with university applications up by 13% to 89% of the cohort. With a significant increase in the number of Russell group university applications (up by 32%), indicating the increased confidence and high aspirations of our students in year 13.
We are looking forward to an even more successful summer for our students – year 13 mock examinations and projected grades show that they are firmly on track to better the results of 2017. Students are very focused on achieving the results they need to go to either the university of their choice, or higher level apprenticeships and we wish them every success in the summer.
