Sixth Form News
2018 has been another very successful year for our A level students, with an increase in our average grade, an increase in the number of students who applied to university and another rise in the number of students who gained entry into Russell Group universities (the leading UK universities in terms of research and teaching) including Warwick, Manchester, York, Leeds and Sheffield. Our top three students had 7 As and 2 A*s between them and all three are going on to attend Russell Group universities to study: English Literature, English and Architecture. Once again, 100% of our applicants successfully gained entry into a university. Our students’ ambition and aspirations continue to increase, showing a continued desire to achieve their very best.
We are looking forward to an even more successful summer for our students in 2019 – our year 13 projected grades showing that they are firmly on track to better the results of 2018. Many students are currently undertaking research regarding what university or apprenticeship they wish to apply for and attending various open days. Last term they attended an apprenticeship workshop, the UCAS conference and Northampton University open day, as part of our summer enrichment programme, enabling them to gain a clearer picture about what their next steps might be. In September, we attended the University and Apprenticeships Fair, Birmingham. We hope that all of these activities, along with an upcoming careers fair, talks from Montsaye alumni and Evolve from Northumbria University, will mean that our students have every opportunity to explore all of the potential avenues that they might follow after the completion of their A levels.
