Oracy: Heroes project 2017
All Year 7 students will participate in an exciting cross-curricular project next week in order to strengthen their spoken literacy skills. The theme for the project is ‘heroes.’ The Humanities and English departments will be working in partnership to deliver this project to students.
Students will spend next week learning all about historical heroes in their Humanities lessons and explore persuasive speeches in English lessons. On Friday 15th December 2017 all Year 7 students will be given the opportunity to apply what they have learnt in these lessons by spending the day researching and preparing a speech about their chosen hero, which they will then deliver to their peers on Friday 12th January 2018.
We will therefore be asking students to ensure they complete any outstanding research, finalise and rehearse their speeches at home, ready for presenting on Friday 12th January. Further details will be published on Show my Homework after the project day on Friday 15th December.
This project is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their communication and literacy skills, as well as promoting confidence and resilience.
We thank you in advance for your support with this project and we look forward to the fabulous outcomes we know the students will produce as a result of their hard work and enthusiasm.
