KEREN DAVID VISITS MONTSAYE ACADEMY

FRIDAY  28TH APRIL 2017

Multi-award winning author Keren David visited Montsaye Academy on Friday 28th April 2017.

One of Keren’s most recent books ”Cuckoo”  has been longlisted for the prestigious Carnegie’s children award.

Her other novels are for young adults and include “When I was Joe”, “This is not a love story” and “Lia’s guide to winning the lottery” has been made into a musical.

She spoke to all our year 7s about the process of writing, developing humorous and tough scenes and described the process of having one of her books made into a musical. The themes of lying and telling the truth run through all her young adult themed books.

She also led two writing workshops for some of our year 8 students showing them how to develop an author’s voice.

Copies of “Cuckoo” and “The liar’s handbook” were available to purchase which Keren was pleased to sign for our students. Thanks goes to Stuart Cleaver from Quinns bookshop from Market Harborough for selling the books and of course, to Keren for providing our students with an amazing insight into the process of publishing young adult books.
